Tyler Reddick Captures Daytona 500 Victory for Michael Jordan’s 23XI Racing
A Last-Lap Triumph at Daytona
Tyler Reddick seized victory in dramatic fashion at the Daytona 500, delivering a landmark win for 23XI Racing, co-owned by basketball icon Michael Jordan and veteran NASCAR driver Denny Hamlin.
Driving a Toyota, Reddick led just one lap all afternoon — the final one. His perfectly timed move on the last circuit secured the most coveted win in stock car racing at Daytona International Speedway.
Chaos Sets Up a Four-Lap Shootout
The closing stretch of the race was filled with tension and wrecks. Hamlin, who competes for Joe Gibbs Racing, was caught in a late collision with teammate Christopher Bell with nine laps remaining. The incident triggered a caution period and tightened the field for a final four-lap sprint to the finish.
When racing resumed, Carson Hocevar briefly held the lead before being spun off the front of the pack, opening the door for Chase Elliott to take control.
Elliott’s Bid Ends in Heartbreak
Elliott appeared poised to claim his first Daytona 500 victory. The 2020 Cup Series champion — and son of NASCAR Hall of Famer Bill Elliott — held the advantage as the white flag waved for the final lap.
But Reddick mounted a bold charge. As the two drivers battled for position, contact between their cars sent Elliott crashing, ending his bid for the win. Reddick surged ahead through the chaos and crossed the finish line first, sealing an unforgettable triumph.
A Milestone Moment for 23XI Racing
The victory marked a significant achievement for 23XI Racing and its high-profile ownership group. Jordan, who has become an influential presence in NASCAR, was also recently involved in major developments off the track. He served as the public face of a federal antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR that was settled during trial in December, resulting in changes to the sport’s revenue-sharing system.
On Sunday, however, the spotlight belonged to Reddick. By leading only when it mattered most, he etched his name into Daytona 500 history and delivered one of the most dramatic finishes the event has seen in recent years.
